About Our School All schools in the Washington Elementary School District are committed to achieving excellence for every child, every day, every opportunity. Daily Schedule Office Hours: 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. School Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. PLC Wednesday dismissal: 1:00 p.m. PLC Wednesday Office Hours: 7:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. Please arrange your student's departure from home so that he or she doesn't arrive at school before 7:15 a.m. Students may not be on campus without supervision, and our teachers' workday officially begins at 7:15 a.m. All students are expected to leave campus at dismissal time, 2:30 p.m., unless they are attending an adult-supervised after-school program and have the written permission from either parent or staff. Your child will need to be picked up and dropped off in the south parking lot. Visitors You must check into the office when you are visiting the campus, sign in and wear a visitors pass. View more » IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Campus Hours Office Hours : 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Close on Wednesdays at 2:30 p.m. School Hours Grades: K – 6 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Early Release days: every Wednesday, Parent/Teacher Conferences, and the last day of school (1:00 p.m.) Attendance Responsibility to Report: The legal custodial parent or legal guardian of the child must notify the school of the student's absence prior to the absence or when the absence occurs . Excused Absences: In order for absences relating to illness, doctor appointment, bereavement, family emergencies, or district approved family vacation to be counted as excused absences, the school must be notified in advance or at the time of any absence by the parent or other person who has custody of the student per A.R.S. § 15-807(B). The school will document the date, reason, and person reporting the absence. The documented record shall be maintained for not less than four years after the fiscal year it was created or received. If an absence occurs relating to any other term or condition that is not specifically designated herein, the absence shall be counted as unexcused. Students absent for ten consecutive school days, except for excused absences identified herein, shall be withdrawn from the school effective the last day of attendance or reported excused absence, pursuant to A.R.S. § 15-901(A). The governing board may take disciplinary action that may lead to expulsion pursuant to A.R.S. § 15-342. Dress Code School uniforms Uniforms are required. Students enrolled when the school year is already in session will get a two-week grace period to purchase uniforms. Clothing may not be altered, baggy or over-sized. SHIRTS: Light blue, navy blue or hunter green cotton collared polo shirts (long- or short-sleeved). No logos – except school logo (purchase through PTO). Solid colored, long-sleeved shirts may be worn under polos. teal or gray spirit shirt may be worn on Friday (purchase through PTO). BOTTOMS: Uniform-style navy blue or khaki shorts or pants. No jeans, cargo shorts or pants. Shorts or pants may have a small logo on belt or back pocket. Socks must be a solid color and matching. Girls may wear uniform-style walking shorts, pants, skirts, skorts, capris or jumpers. Solid-colored tights/leggings may be worn under skirts or jumpers. OUTERWEAR: Jackets, sweaters, hoodies may only have minimal logos (no larger than the size of the child's closed hand). UNDERGARMENTS: Should not be visible. FOOTWEAR: No flip-flops or open-backed shoes. See the Parent/Student Handbook or the school Web site for more specifics. School ID required All students are required to wear an ID while on school campus and on buses. To replace a defaced or lost ID the cost is $2. Replacement clips and pouches are 50¢ each. Transportation Walk, Bike or Bus Students walk or ride the bus to and from school, based on their home address. Bicycles must be secured by a lock inside the bike rack area. The school is not responsible for loss or damage of a bicycle. Only grades 1–6 are allowed to ride bikes. If walking, please use the crosswalks. Those who live on the north side of the school may use the crosswalk at 39th Ave. and Camino Acequia. Those who live closer to Carol may use the crosswalk at 39th Ave. & Carol. No scooters or skateboards. Nutrition Breakfast and lunch are provided There is no cost for school meals. Breakfast is served in the classroom 7:30 – 7:45 a.m. School Supplies Required supplies WESD provides all required supplies. Teachers may offer a "wish list" of optional items. Binders are preferred over using backpacks. A colored grade level communication folder will be provided.
